Can you believe 2016 is already coming to an end? This has been such a crazy year, full of change and personal growth.
At the start of the year I set some goals for myself in a very strict manner (you can see the original post here). It is not a surprise that I didn’t achieve most of them, but this is what I achieved instead:
Applied to 3 Masters and got accepted into all of them
Started a Masters degree
Went to Anglesey and met some of my boyfriend’s family
Moved in with my boyfriend into our own flat
Got my first permanent job
Took my boyfriend home to meet my family
I went back home and spent time with my best and true friends (and my beautiful goddaughter too!)
Went on trips to Scotland, Forest of Dean and Barcelona
Treated my mum and sister to their first trip out of the country and to the UK for Christmas
Hosted my first Christmas
Transitioned to veganism
Bought a car
Went to a therapist and took actual steps into managing my anxiety
Got offered a new job that almost doubled my 2015 salary. I start in February 2017
I also went on hikes, walks and runs. I went swimming in the ocean. I made love and laughed my heart out. I cried and got sad too. I fell in love with new characters and new shows and books.
Do you know what didn’t happen? I didn’t lose weight. I actually gained some! And that is okay. I spent 2016 learning and growing and figuring out who I am and what I want. I healed my soul and I now know what I want and where I am headed. I have found balance and now I am finally ready to do long lasting and sustainable changes for my health.
In 2017 I will continue on my journey of self improvement. I want to meditate more and start a journal. I also have very clear academic, financial and professional goals. And I want to rediscover the joy of exercising. I know how good yoga and running used to make me feel and it’s finally time to start those again.
In the end this is just another turn of the clock. It’s the work that we put in consistently, day in and day out, that will result in long lasting and positive changes. Take every single day as a blessing and put in the work every single day towards your goals. We can do anything we set our minds too!
